At home I have a clunky old PC that was used by Noah on his ark. Often the anti virus scan kicks in and slows the PC to a halt. The solution is a neat little tools called Process Lasso. It dynamically lowers the priorities of processes that are consuming too many CPU cycles, there-by giving other processes a chance to run.
