Genchi Genbutsu, Hansei and Kaizen

The Toyota Production System has a method for solving problems. Here is a brief summary:
  • Go and see for yourself to thoroughly understand the situation (Genchi Genbutsu).
  • Make decisions slowly by consensus, thoroughly considering all options; implement decisions rapidly.
  • Become a learning organization through relentless reflection (Hansei) and continuous improvement (Kaizen).
I have previously written about eyeballing problems which is Genchi Genbutsu. Over at the Skep's blog I posed the classic stepping into the circle question, and James Finister came up with more than ten things from the circle.
